Air Seal and Insulate in One Step
Closed-cell spray foam insulation provides an air seal and high insulating R-value in one step. It is especially useful in retrofit projects where wall or roof cavity space is narrow and access to work areas is limited. At Building Energy we use HEATLOK HFO HIGH LIFT® closed-cell spray foam insulation that has an R-value up to 7.4 per inch depending on installed thickness. When applied, foam insulation expands to fill gaps and cracks. It provides an excellent air seal and has an added benefit of reducing pathways for vermin and bugs entering the house. The expansion characteristic of spray foam is ideal for insulating odd framing and hard-to-get-at areas like crawl spaces and knee walls.
