As we head into winter, the likelihood of power outages increases. We strongly recommend performing a simulated outage test if you haven’t done so recently. This will help confirm that your system is functioning as expected and refresh your memory on how to monitor your loads and battery state of charge before a real outage occurs. Keep in mind, you may need to turn off large loads during an outage to make sure you have enough energy for the critical loads. I also recommend doing this during daylight hours to confirm that the solar is able to recharge the battery as needed.

If you are using “Self-Consumption Mode” we recommend either switching it to “Emergency Backup Mode” or, at a minimum, increasing the reserve percentage in your battery settings. This will help ensure your battery can support

the critical loads through the overnight hours.
